Far Out Gravel Adventure Series — Boulder, Colorado

Far Out is a free, 80s-inspired checkpoint adventure through the mountains above Boulder—and August 29 is the final Far Out of 2026.

There are no timing chips, podiums, or entry fees. Instead, riders choose between approximately 50 miles / 7,000 feet of climbing or 90 miles / 10,000+ feet, then head into the mountains in search of hidden checkpoint books along old roads, forest tracks, mining country, and some seriously demanding Colorado terrain.

Far Out is intentionally supported with aid stations, hydration, food, volunteers, and community partners, but it remains a self-paced mountain adventure. Ride your own pace, help the person beside you, and come prepared for changing weather, big climbs, and a proper day out.

The ride also raises money and awareness for mental-health services, with a goal of raising $15,000 by August 29.

And because cycling doesn’t always need to take itself so seriously, the 80s theme is highly encouraged: neon, questionable sunglasses, fanny packs, leg warmers—whatever you’ve got.

Every route eventually leads back to Upslope Brewing for food, drinks, music, friendship bracelets, giveaways, a 6 PM raffle, and the stories that make Far Out what it is.
