What we hold, and what you can ask us to do with it

Gravel Calendar is a calendar of gravel cycling events. Most of the site is public information about races, and you can read all of it without telling us anything about yourself. This page covers the parts where we do hold something.

What we hold

If you sign in. Your email address, because that is how you sign in — there are no passwords here, only a link we mail you. Your name and profile photo if you have one, and the date you last signed in.

If you list an event. Everything you type into the listing, which is public by design, along with the organizer contact details you choose to publish. Some listings were brought across from our previous platform when the site was rebuilt, which means we may hold a contact address for an event you have never signed in to manage.

If you write to us. The name, email address and message you send through the contact, feedback or partnership forms.

If you agree to analytics. Anonymous statistics about which pages get read and which searches get run. Nothing at all is collected unless you say yes, and the cookies page says exactly what that turns on.

Who else sees it

We do not sell anything about you, and we do not hand organizer contact details to sponsors or partners. What we do use is a short list of services to run the site: Supabase for sign-in and the database, Netlify for hosting and for the contact forms, Cloudflare for photo storage and spam protection, Sentry for error reports, Google Analytics if you agree to it, Shopify for the shop, and Radar and RideWithGPS to turn an address or a route link into map details.

These run in the United States, so if you are writing to us from elsewhere your information is stored there.

How long we keep it

Event listings stay up, because a calendar that forgets last year is not much of a record. Account details stay until you ask us to remove them. If you would rather we did not keep yours, say so and we will delete it.

What you can ask for

You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to us holding it at all. If you are in the UK or the European Economic Area, those are rights you have under data protection law rather than favors, and they apply whether or not you have ever signed in here.

Email connor@gravelcalendar.com and say what you want done. It is one person reading that inbox, so it will be a reply from a human rather than a ticket number. If you think we have handled your information badly, you can also complain to the data protection authority where you live.

Changes

If this page changes in a way that matters, the change will be visible here. Carry on reading the calendar.
