Hogback GRVL
Waukee, IA, USA · Hogback GRVL
About this event
If you’re showing up to compete, you better be prepared to take home the bacon. Seriously.
The winner from the men and womens’ open categories will receive half of a hog; an assortment of bacon, sausage, ham — all the fixins. Additionally, there will be prizes for the Top 3 finishers in each category for both the Whole Hog and Half Hog races.
Make space in your deep freezers, stomachs, and your mind to hog all of the race loot.
Iowa is home to over 65,000 miles of gravel. We procured a route through some of the very best. Deep in the heart of Madison county Iowa, where the packed limestone gravel roads follow the curves of Badger Creek, climb the limestone ridges of the North River, and descend into lush valleys where one of the most iconic covered bridges built in 1884 still stands today — The Hogback.
This is Hogback GRVL the "Whole Hog" - 70 miles and the "Half Hog" - 40 miles of gravel gold. Whether you choose to race, set a PR, or just enjoy the scenery with the gravel family, Hogback GRVL will meet you head on. The nearly all gravel course, connected by brief paved sections, will allow you to test your limits or enjoy the scenery. There are no B-level roads — all dust, no mud. Additionally, chip-timing will be utilized for accurate time tracking. When the limestone dust settles for the day we’ll celebrate the winners, the finishers, the PR’s and the stories captured on our live-stream at Kinship Brewery in Waukee, IA.
A portion of the race proceeds will be distributed to our non-profit race beneficiary, BreakTheCycle200 — a Hope for Justice Company, that utilizes extreme events to create awareness and raise money to fight human trafficking around the world.
Registration for Hogback GRVL 2023 will open at the start of the new year: January 1, 2023.
