Texas Three Step

Prepare for an amazing cycling experience in a beautiful area of Texas! Long known by some for its amazing cycling, the Leakey area is surrounded by hills and canyons with the famous Frio River winding its way through the heart of this Texas gem.
We're giving you an adventure onto private ranches, backroads, and trails along the Frio River with views of stunning towering cliffs, springs, and waterfall as you ride along singletrack and ranch access trails. You also get to ride brand new fast rolling mountain bike/running trails right on the edge of town. Connecting everything together, is quiet rolling chipseal roads and challenging gravel roads with even more views of the hills surrounding the Frio River. Take your choice of 35 or 50 miles for a great day of riding. This is a DON'T MISS event with three different surfaces, with dirt/caliche/chipseal (The Texas Three Step), that will have you thinking about the best equipment to bring!
Choose your ride wisely! Any bike with a minimum of 40mm (40c) wide tires will work for this event, and bigger will be even better! It is possible that a mountain bike will have the most fun for this one. Tubeless tires with sealant is strongly recommended, and the ability to navigate with GPS on a bike computer or Ride With GPS app enabled smartphone on the handlebar is required.
This event is not timed, and is not a race, but we know many like to go fast. Take it fast if you like, but keep your head up to enjoy the amazing sights! For the party pacers, you are going to have a fantastic morning of riding and experiences!
At the finish line party, we'll have music, included lunch and drink waiting for you and all your friends at the Rustic Frio venue right on the county courthouse square. Lunch is provided by the Leakey Lions Club and will benefit their community service programs in the Leakey area!
This event benefits local businesses, non-profits, and landowners, and helps increase access to cycling in the area! And it's going to be an incredible ride experience that will have you telling everyone about it for a long time!
