About this event

Amanda and David Sheek invite you to Mammoth Lakes, the gateway to mountain adventure, for a gravel event and adventure festival to challenge the toughest of riders. The fifth annual Mammoth TUFF will take place September 19, 2026, and offers three distances so you can explore your version of TUFF. The short and medium courses will circle the famous caldera while the long course will travel through the Volcanic Tableland formed by the eruption thousands of years ago. The event is hosted by the Village at Mammoth Lakes and is part of the UCI Gravel World Series for 2026.

The 2026 TUFF GUIDE is published as of Aug 25.
Policy:
No refunds. However, should the event be canceled due to adverse weather, natural catastrophe (forest fires included), or terrorism that threatens the safety of riders, a full refund will be issued to riders.
Transfers allowed. Participants can transfer their registration to another participant for a $10 surcharge.
BikeReg offers the Allianz Registration Protection to participants when checking out. This Allianz Registration Protector gives you an opportunity to get reimbursed for up to 100% of your entry if you can’t attend the event for a qualifying reason. We recommend purchasing insurance for your protection.
Course/Routes:
Final routes will be released on the week of the event (~Sept 14). Due to the success of the ‘25 routes, you can expect the ’26 routes to be very similar. We are giving ourselves the flexibility to tweak the routes until the week of the event due to road conditions and safety factors.
We encourage self-sufficiency with this event; however, there will be sufficient supplies and support at aid stations. Courses will be marked, but we suggest you have a computer or phone with nagivating capabilities.
UCI Gravel World Series:
UCI Gravel World Championship qualifier categories are noted in the registration categories and those Age Groups are defined by the rider’s age on December 31, 2026. Riders in the elite category must hold a UCI license and provide the UCI ID when registering. NO license is required for the UCI Age Group categories; however, riders who qualify for the UCI Gravel World Championships and choose to race must hold a valid license issued by USA Cycling for that race. Our event grants qualification rights for the UCI Gravel World Championships for those riders finishing in the top 3 of each official category as well as those finishing in the top 25% of each official category.
Elite riders and younger age groups (19-49) will ride the TUFFEST course.
Older age groups (50-84) will ride the TUFFER course.
Adaptive TUFF:
We have Para Categories for the Short course and we will continue to run the Adaptive TUFF distance as an official route. Select Para Hand Cycle or Para Traditional Cycle in the custom questions during registration for the Adaptive Category.
TUFF Stuff:
Registrations before July 14, 2026 at 11pm PST are guaranteed a free shirt. All registrations after July 14 will have the option to purchase merchandise from a limited inventory. Thanks for understanding and helping our order process.
If you want to order the 2026 shirt for pick-up at registration because you registered too late, you can order from our excess inventory here: https://tuffaf.net/
