About this event
How is the route signposted? Do I need the GPS data?
We know from experience that almost everyone uses GPS tracks or apps like Komoot. That's why we guide you along the route exclusively digitally, so that you can fully devote yourself to your tour without any unwanted stops. You will receive the current GPX track directly by email when you register.
How is the route verified?
During your tour, you track the route with your GPS bike computer or your sports watch (Garmin, Polar, Suunto, Fitbit, Apple and many more) or your cycling app (Strava, Komoot, AllTrails and many more). After your tour, send us the tracking link or a picture of the tracked bike route.
In what period and in which direction does the route have to be traveled?
The challenge period runs from April 1st, 2025 to October 31st, 2025. You have until the last day of October to complete the route. Where you start the route is up to you. Our recommendation for the start/destination location is Bockenheim an der Weinstraße, from here there is also a connection to public transport. Before you start the tour, make a plan where it's worth taking breaks.
The route must be completed in one day, i.e. within 24 hours. There may not be an overnight stay in between. You can find your status in the finisher list of PFALZLANDS 2025, provided you have fully reported your tracks and they have been checked by us. Also visit our homepage www.nibelungen-gravel.de!
What benefits will I receive once I have registered?
• Regular route checks
• Digital starter pack with GPX and information on important points on the route
• Recorded in the PFALZLANDS Permanent finisher list
• Finisher medal in gold, silver or bronze edition 2025
• EUR 10 of the registration fee goes to the children's clinic in Worms
How do I plan my PFALZLANDS Permanente?
Where you start is not fixed. You can choose the starting point of the PFALZLANDS Permanente as you wish, as the route is a circular route. When planning, our focus was on experience, nature and challenge. The route runs almost entirely in the Palatinate Forest, the largest contiguous forest area in Germany. 99% of the track runs outside of road traffic. You are welcome to tackle the challenge as a team.
There are plenty of supply options along the route. In addition to supermarkets and bistros, there are also mountain huts - note the opening times here.
How fit do I have to be for PFALZLANDS Permanente?
The PFALZLANDS Permanente can be completely ridden with a gravel bike or MTB. A robust basic condition should definitely be present. Driving on long climbs or descents should also be mastered. Please always be considerate of hikers. You are not moving on a closed route, but on public paths. Even if we avoid the roads as best we can, some traffic is to be expected around intersections and towns on weekends. The Bronze Track is also easy for motivated occasional riders.
What should I have with me at PFALZLANDS Permanente?
You should prepare at least as much as you would for your longer gravel rides. We therefore expressly recommend taking a spare tube, tire lever, pump, mini tool and light with you. If you want to be absolutely safe, you can also have a chain tool and a spare chain with you so that you can repair defects yourself in an emergency. However, the route offers the opportunity to seek help in places.
When is the best time for PFALZLANDS Permanente?
Our tracks are rideable all year round. However, you should take into account how much daylight is available in which month and what weather awaits you. You can best enjoy the track and nature in the sunshine. From June to August you have the most time for your challenge; during these months the daily sun exposure is over 14 hours.
