About this event

Thank Gravel It’s Friday and Specialized Costa Mesa team up for a gnarly gravel ride to chase the everlasting summer around Orange County. Hawaiian shirts, salty hair, sand between your toes, and waves crashing on the beach will take you on a throwback ride along the coast. You’ll be throwing shakas and mahalos like it was 1966. This unique expedition takes you up some of the gnarliest single track, heavy dirt climbs, and flowy descents, before crawling through Newport Back Bay to Specialized Costa Mesa. Share the stoke as you search Orange County for that perfect brown pow which may be hiding just over the next climb.

RSVP to get The Endless Summer water bottle. Limited to the first 50 riders.

Ride at your own pace and make sure you have everything you need to finish the ride on your own. There will be one aid station to help fuel your journey. This ride will have technical trails so we recommend a 42mm tire or wider. The wider the better! This ride is not intended for beginners.

We will have an aid station supported by Specialized Costa Mesa that the route will pass twice at the top of Newport Coast at Coastal Peak Park near the bathrooms.

We're all about the good times and great lines, the only winner will be the best dressed. Wear your favorite Hawaiian shirt or dad shirt...whichever you prefer.

Routes

The Endless Summer III

45.5 mi · ↗ 5,000 ft · 55% gravel

There are three sections on this route that have singletrack... one at mile 6.7 (uphill), 13.3 (downhill switchbacks) and mile 39 (downhill switchbacks). The dirt roads are loose, sandy and may be rutted depending on the year and how much rain there has been. For this reason, we recommend using 42mm tires or larger for this ride depending on your comfort level on loose and steep gravel. We will have an aid station at the top of Ridge Park that the route will pass twice at mile 15 and 34 where riders can get water and use the restroom. This is located at Coastal Peak Park near the entrance to Bommer Ridge. There is also a bathroom at Nix Nature Center at mile 24 where riders can refill bottles.

Thank Gravel It’s Friday

Thank Gravel It’s Friday was born from the love of adventures, friends, community, and shredding gravel trails. It’s more than just a group ride, it’s a space that you can show up as yourself, feel welcome, challenge yourself, and leave feeling full. We don’t race to win, we show up to support friends, express ourselves, challenge one another and celebrate the good times riding can give us.
