About this event

WYO131 Gravel Grinder 6.0 - September 9, 2023 @ Lander, WY
A Lander Cycling Club event held under permits from the USFS and BLM
Step back into the Wild West and immerse yourself in the high desert, historic mining towns, and breath-taking views at Wyoming’s premier gravel ride. For real cowboys and cowgirls, the 131 mile distance is one of the toughest gravel races in the U.S. with over 10,000 feet of climbing, minimal support and podium prize money!

2023 sees the addition of a new 80-mile route to suit any rider who wants to come soak in some hoodoos, rolling hills, and the sweeping views of Wyoming high desert landscape.
The 40 mile route is perfect for those who are new to gravel and want to see what all the fuss / fun is about.

The 80 mile route is a great option for those who aren’t quite ready to tackle the whole WYO131 just yet - same start as the full distance, but turns back before the misery really sets in!

The 131 mile route is the ultimate bucket-list gravel ride. This is not a ride for beginners. There will be pain and suffering. There will be cut off times. Some people will not finish. You’ll need hard-core gravel racing and endurance experience before taking on this route. There are several bail-points and there will be a SAG car.

In true Wyoming spirit (first state to let women vote), there are equal cash prizes on offer for men, women, and non-binary, $500 for first place, $250 for second place and $100 for third place (131-mile distance only).

Aid stations will be stocked with water and snacks, and toilets will be available. There will be 1 station for the 40-mile route, 3 for the 80-mile and 5 for the 131-mile.
There is on-site FREE camping available at Lander City Park all week. This is a busy location so plan accordingly.

Routes

40-Mile Route

40 mi · ↗ 2,000 ft · 50% gravel · $65 entry

This course is great for anyone looking for a sampling of everything the full 131 has to offer, with a little less pain and suffering, and a lot more time for post-race beers. You get 10 miles of smooth tarmac to warm up on before hitting the gravel of Coal Mine Road, where the majority of the course’s ~2000 feet of elevation gain are earned. Expect some punchy climbs, beautiful views, and generally decent road conditions as you explore the hills outside Lander

80-mile Route

80 mi · ↗ 4,000 ft · 80% gravel · $75 entry

Route reveal happening soon!

131 Mile Route

131 mi · ↗ 10,000 ft · 90% gravel · $85 entry

Step back into the Wild West and immerse yourself in the high desert, historic mining towns, and breath-taking views at Wyoming’s premier gravel ride.
This is the ultimate bucket-list gravel ride. This rugged ride is well known for its 5 STAR gravel in the most remote and least densely populated regions of the West. The 131 mile distance is one of the toughest gravel races in the U.S. with over 10,000 feet of climbing, minimal support and podium prize money!
This is not a ride for beginners. There will be pain and suffering. There will be cut off times. Some people will not finish. You’ll need hard-core gravel and endurance experience before taking on this route. There are several bail-points and there will be a SAG car.
