About this event

The San Luis Obispo Bicycle Club invites you to join us at our 53rd annual Lighthouse Century. We offer relatively flat routes along Highway 1 with scenic ocean vistas. Our challenging Century and Gravel routes travel east toward Paso Robles before returning to Highway 1. Experience beautiful coastal cycling and cool ocean breezes. The event is limited to 1000 riders so register early to save money and ensure your place in this classic ride.

The SLOBC’s Wildflower and Lighthouse Century bike rides are traditional club events. They are opportunities for individuals and groups to gather together for the enjoyment of a shared day of riding. They are not races, they are not timed and do not provide for any individual rider recognition.

his event has routes for both new and experienced riders. The 75 and 65 Mile routes are relatively flat and suited for new riders with less experience and training. The Century and 65 Mile Gravel routes include significant climbing and are better suited for experienced riders with appropriate training. Please review the route maps before you register. We want you to be successful and enjoy the day.
The RWGPS files provide both plan and profile views of each route. Once opened, if you move your cursor along the profile, it will show the mileage, elevation and % grade at that point.

Note: Our RWGPS routes include access to files, that when sent to a Garmin or similar devise, can provide turn-by-turn navigation. Or, if you have a paid RWGPS account, opening our routes in the RWGPS app on your phone can provide turn-by-turn navigation.
Note: Ascent numbers shown in the chart below in parenthesis (e.g., 5300 ft.) are based on feedback from past riders.

New 65 mile Gravel Route!

The 65 Mile Gravel route climbs up Old Creek and then turns east on Santa Rita Road then north to Donati Winery. Santa Rita Road is a narrow winding often single lane route that contains a 10 mile gravel section as it climbs up and over the ridge. Like the Century, this route has over 3000 feet of climbing in the first 30 miles. From Donati, the route heads west on Highway 46 with the Century riders and on to the Pinedorado Rest Stop in Cambria. From Cambria the route heads south on Highway 1 to the finish.

Volunteer info

The Wildflower and Lighthouse Century rides enable the SLOBC to earn the money needed to support our club and make donations to local cycling organizations and activities. The willingness of our members and friends to volunteer for the rides make them possible.
In addition to the enjoyment of working together, all century volunteers receive a T-Shirt and are invited to participate in our Volunteer Celebration event. Captains receive an additional reward. Finally, if your job does not fall on the day of the event, you may ride in the event for free.

The jobs defined on this page and in the Volunteer Registration Form may change as plans evolve based on rider registration and captain's input. Changes will be made visible and communicated as soon as possible.
Once a job is filled, it will not display as a choice in the Volunteer Registration Form. To see a list of all current jobs and who has volunteered at any point in time, download the Volunteer Report: Public excel spreadsheet.
  • Click on the Job Name under Century Job Descriptions for job information.
  • Click on the Volunteer Registration Form button below after June 9, 2024 at noon. Choose an available job from the drop down menu and complete the form. You can only volunteer for one job at a time.
