About this event

The Fernie Gravel Grind (FGG) by Anything Goes Event Series (AGES) offers a Bucket List Gravel Cycling Experience for any and all riders. Located in the heart of the Canadian Rockies, the FGG plays host to some of the best gravel cycling that Canada has to offer. Over the course of the weekend, riders will race or ride up picturesque mountain roads, experience historical downtown Fernie and connect with a growing community of gravel cyclists from all over the country. Following our mission, Anything Goes With Gravel, the race itself is open to any and all riders and offers multiple distances, race categories and fun activities for the whole family all weekend long.

Routes

Short Haul

40 km · ↗ 500 m · 90% gravel · $165 entry

For those new to adventure racing or those who just want to take the scenic route, the Short Haul is not too hot and not too cold, it really is just right. The Short Haul features a roller coaster of a ride with incredible vistas to boot throughout the Elk Valley. Ear to ear grins guaranteed.

Long Haul

90 km · ↗ 1,500 m · 95% gravel · $165 entry

Here in the heart of the Canadian Rockies, there is no such thing as a free lunch. The riding is just as beautiful as it is unrelenting and every descent is hard earned. But whether or not you’re here to be the first across the finish line or to simply take in the scenery with friends, you are guaranteed for an epic day out on the Long Haul. The Long Haul takes the seasoned adventurer riders from Downtown Fernie out to the cusp of the picturesque Flathead Valley and back, not without a mountain pass and getting up close and personal with mother nature of course.

Our goal is to make the volunteer experience just as exciting as it is for our riders. If you want to get in on the FGG action without the racing part, join our incredible volunteer team! 

We offer a wide range of volunteer opportunities varying in length and responsibility, filled with excitement and different perks including event swag, food & beverage tickets, live music, entry to future AGES events and prizes from sponsors!

Anything Goes Event Series

Anything Goes Event Series (AGES) offers a new age of cycling events across Western Canada, created for any and all cyclists. Beyond a cycling event series, AGES is a platform to expand ideas and passions for the cycling community. While this newly created umbrella organization will continue to host one of Canada’s staple gravel events with the Fernie Gravel Grind, AGES will bring a handful of other inclusive and community-based events to life across Western Canada such as the Cranbrook Gravel Grind and yet to be released third gravel event.
